Nestled amidst the serene, calm and balmy environment of Tekanpur 32 Kms away from Gwalior, the land of legendary music maestro Tansen, the STC BSF Tekanpur came into being on 1st March 1986 with the primary aim of training the Recruit Constables of the Force.

Spread over an area of 59 acres the Centre is equipped with the quintessential paraphernalia of a modern training centre and is engaged in conducting both basic as well as in-service training for a broad spectrum of BSF personnel and occupies covetous position among all the Subsidiary Training Centres of BSF.

Subsidiary Training Centre, BSF, Tekanpur, was raised on Ist Mar 1986 to train Recruit Constables for the Force. It was designed to train 840 recruits at a time. The foundation of this elite Institution was laid by Sh Sudarshan Kumar, Comdt. Since then the Institution has made rapid strides in shaping and moulding the recruit constables into dependable Borderman. Presently, the Institution is blossoming under the able leadership of Brig S C Verma, DIG.

The recruits are being trained in a manner to make them perfect Borderman so that when they go to the Battalions they perform the duties effectively as per the role assigned to the Force, both during peace and war.


“To make the Subsidiary Training Center an Elite Training Institution to train physically tough, mentally alert and professionally sound Borderman”.


To train Constables, Ministerial Staffs, Medical Staffs, Class-IV and to conduct in-service pre-courses for Officers, SOs and OR, enabling them to shoulder the responsibilities of a professionally competent Borderman and also fostering the spirit of “Duty unto Death” amongst them.

The Subsidiary Training Centre is headed by an Officer of the rank of the DIG. He is assisted by two Staff Officers i.e. 2IC (Adm) and DC (Trg) in his day to day functioning.

The Centre has an authorized strength of 146 Instructional Staffs who are engaged in imparting training to various courses round the year. Besides, there are 209 personnel posted in STC as Administrative Staff to provide logistic support and other assistance required to run the training smoothly.
