The BSF Academy is headed by IG designated as Director. The Academy HQ is housed in Suraksha Bhawan. At HQ he is directly assisted by a Second in Command designated as Adjutant and DC (Law) as advisor on legal and disciplinary matters.
Training Wings
HQ Training Wings is headed by the Dy Director who is also the Chief Instructor of the Academy and co-located establishments. Generally, this post is held by a Brigadier from the Indian Army who has vast experience as a Trainer as well as in field. He is assisted by DC (Trg) and AC (Trg).
Training of all ranks of the BSF is the most sacred and important responsibility and foremost mission of the Academy. To fulfill this aim, HQ Training Wings conditions the Faculty of the Training Wings to impart knowledge to all members of the Force who undergo various courses, including the Basic courses, and prepare all trainees for efficient execution of all assigned tasks to the Force during peace, no peace no war and during hot war. HQ also monitors and coordinates all training activities at the Academy including the co-located establishments at Tekanpur.
Tactical Wing
Tactical Wing is responsible for conduct of in-service courses for serving Officers of the rank of Asstt Comdt to DIG. More ...STS Wing
Specialist Training School is responsible for conduct of basic courses for Officers and Sub Inspectors who are newly inducted or promoted through Limited Departmental Competitive Examination. Faculty of Studies (FOS) aims to streamline the BSF training in conformity with role and tasks by effecting necessary changes in course curriculum and methodology. It has a well stocked Library called 'Tagore Library', named after the noble laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore. The vast library houses a comprehensive literature on variety of subjects. The Administrative Wing of BSF Academy Has been organized to look after the administrative needs of Training Wing. The Wing is headed by Addl DIG designated as Chief Administrative Officer, who has been delegated the financial powers to improve he functional efficiency of Training Wing, through better administrative coverage.
